Macrophotography - Weevil : Phyllobius (Curculionidae)
This afternoon I went hunting for insects in the embankment area on the banks of the Keurembok river, the area is densely packed with wild plants Teumikie (Aceh), Senggani (Malay) or this plant with the scientific name Melastoma is inhabited by several species of beetles. One of them is the beetle that I want to share in this post.
The beetles that often inhabit this Melastoma wild plant are beetles from the Curculionidae family. And what I found today is a Phyllobius beetle from the Curculionidae family. I often find this beetle in the wild plants I mentioned above and there is something unique about this beetle. As we know each species of insect has its own way of avoiding danger. Some of them fly, jump, give off a bad smell, some even bite when they feel threatened.
Well, the unique thing is that this beetle from the Curculionidae family chooses to pretend to be dead when it feels threatened. If you don't know the beetle's tricks Curculionidae, it's possible to just leave it at that. But I have encountered this beetle trick several times. Instead of letting them go, I chose to wait until the beetles were active again and continued photographing them. :)
And below I have uploaded some photos of the Phyllobius beetle (Curculionidae) I mean. Hopefully some of these are something you like. Thank You

Hey bro! The shot where the bug spreads the wings is the best for me! I bet you would have needed to wait patiently that perfect moment! 🙃
