MacroPhotography - Scarlet lily beetle, gold-dust weevil & Soldier beetle

On this post, I want to share some interesting macro photos of insects that I managed to capture some time ago. There are three species of insects that I have prepared, the first is a beautiful beetle from the Chrysomelidae family.

This beetle has a dominant red color characteristic with a black combination on both eyes, besides that this beetle also has two antennae which are also red. Scientifically, this beetle is called the Scarlet lily beetle, which is a species of leaf-eating beetle in the genus Lilioceris.

Then the second insect is a beetle which is also a species of leaf-eating insect, and just like the lily beetle above, I also photographed this beetle known as the gold-dust weevil when they were mating. This is certainly an interesting and rare moment because we can find insects in the forest at any time, but not every time we see them mating. :)

The gold-dust weevil is a beetle with the Latin name Hypomeces pulviger from the family Curculionidae. True to its nickname, this beetle has a green base but is covered in gold-colored dust-like particles on its body.

And finally there is a soldier beetle, this beetle looks a bit like a firefly beetle but does not have light-producing organs. Soldier beetles themselves are beetles in the Cantharidae family. I don't know why they're nicknamed soldier beetles, but perhaps their coloration resembles that of ancient military uniforms. And if the two insects above are types of leaf-eating insects, while soldier beetles are a species of insect that also preys on other types of insects such as aphids and caterpillars.
