City Center - Dr. Alfredo Sousa Avenue | Portugal

Time for another trip:

City with history, genuine, a place full of charms.
Just thinking that it was always there so close and i had never had the opportunity or even the curiosity to visit.
I find myself wondering how it could have gone unnoticed!
In this article, we go directly to the city center, despite the fact that the visit started at a higher part, where it was the only place we found to park, because upon our arrival, the part of the city that i share today was full of people, with a huge amount of traffic and i realized early on that i wouldn't find a place to park nearby, so we started by venturing through the back streets that took us towards the castle located further up.

From what i had the opportunity to see, i got the idea that Lamego is located in a kind of valley, surrounded by high mountains and bathed by the waters of the river Balsemão, which at a certain point joins the river Douro.

In this area so well known for port wine, the wine "cheirante de Lamego" and the sparkling wine that is at the origin of port wine stand out, and to accompany such riches, they have a gastronomy to eat and cry for more.
But in this article i will not delve into these themes, but rather address some central features that we can find right in the center, with emphasis on Dr. Alfredo Sousa Avenue, from which all the streets lead us to the most incredible corners of this city and bring us back to the starting point.
There, everything takes on a new meaning depending on the perspective and direction of gaze.

It was sitting on one of those esplanades right next to the street that we were surprised by the sound of the horses hooves that roamed the cobblestones of the Avenue in short, circular walks, pulling small carts with those tourists who didn't miss the opportunity or turn.

This esplanade is located right next to the Ribeiro Conceição Theater, a space widely praised and highlighted for its architectural beauty, compared on an equal footing with the most beautiful theaters throughout Europe and as if that alone were not enough, a little further ahead is the Museum of Lamego in the former Paço do Bispo, which houses one of the best collections of religious art.

On those sides, everything was thought out big.
Once again i confess that the fact that a place like this has gone unnoticed for so long makes me a little embarrassed.
Leaving the esplanade and walking along the Avenue along its landscaped spaces, it is possible to visualize a series of statues and sculptures based on bases of superb architectural style, with details marked a little in each corner that denounce, in a very pronounced tone, the previous presence of families of the high nobility of Portugal, giving the city a very aristocratic appearance.

In one of the photos, above the orange roof tiles, it is possible to see a little of the structure of the Church and Convent of Santa Cruz, which once was the most important convent in the city.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to get closer, this passage through the avenue had a purpose and a destination set out and in the time we spent there in the city, despite not being very big, it is impossible to see and experience everything in one day.

I'm trying to organize the whole route so i can cover all the places i've visited without making it too heavy or confusing, so let's break it down.
From here we go to a higher place, the one where the visit began.
