Street Photography in the Belgrade Parks | 15 rolls in 30 days - #4

Hello from gloomy Belgrade, photography lovers! I'm back with a new installment of the challenge, as usual a bit later than intended. I'm also cheating a bit this time and posting photos from two different days - hope you don't mind and that you'll enjoy the selection. Both outings with the camera had a similar vibe, a cloudy day, not so cold, with a bit of rain, perfect for winter walks - so I thought I'll post them together instead of separately.

First batch of photos is taken today at the park Šumice (Pronounced shoomitseh and can be translated as little woods :D). I remembered being here once and figured out it would compliment the photos I took previously so that they work together.

Šumice is a large forest park filled with trees, intersected with many paths that lead to different parts of the area, with benches and playgrounds for children. Many young people were traversing the park today, likely there's a school around that I'm not familiar with. I captured few passers-by on their way through this natural habitat. The trees are still bare and you can see it's every "bone". But there's a different kind of magic and beauty in a sight like this.

Second batch is from the Kalemegdan park as you can guess by now. When the weather is bad, when it's cloudy and raining (even just lightly) there's a much less people around the fortress. Which is unfortunate for them because the place is so beautiful around this time, but it's lucky for me, because I very much enjoy having it for myself and a few strong willed visitors and their dogs. :) Last few shots taken on the way home.

Here's a short reminder of the project challenge in case you missed it:
- Post 15 photo blogs in 30 days
- Show at least 10 photos per blog, no matter how good they are
- Act as if shooting the film camera, one roll (battery) per day, limited number of shots, minimal attention to reviewing images on the LCD in real time

When I crouched down with the camera, dogs in passing always come by to say hi. :) Missed focus.

The photos are beautiful. I especially liked it with a couple in the distance near the bench.

Yes, she looked sweet and tired. I liked the pose and the way her face was lit.

I really like the portrait oriented ones where the subject is very minimal and you show the full height of the trees. The one with the dog running and the one with the couple and the city and statue in the background. I really like that kind of composition but it's not exactly common in street photography. It really works though, I love those images, great job!

Thank you very much! You are right, classic street photography is usually done in landscape mode with subjects close up and prominent. But I started experimenting with this style that's more visual. It's also more fitting for people watching on mobile, which is a shame, but that's reality. :/
Glad you liked those images!

Beautiful shots of the passersby!
When will all this grayness end already.
I'm looking forward to the green of spring

Awe! The blurry dog running towards the camera is my favorite! Also the chess table picture is quite cool! And all of your shots are very beautiful!

Thanks a lot for sharing!

They must assume, when I'm in a crouched position, that I'm ready to cuddle. :) Thank you very much!

At first I thought that the German Shepperd was pooping until I looked at the photo again 😂 And I'm not sure if the girl from the last photo would be happy to find it on the internet 😉

Did you have snow this winter?

I get what you mean, it's a subtle line deciding what street photos are ok to share. Close up portraits of people are a standard for this genre, it's where it originated. Bruce Gilden for example took it to the extreme, the late mysterious Vivian Maier was reserved but in people's faces all the time. I mostly moved away from this style of photography because I don't like invading on people but still take these direct shots occasionally if I see a nice moment. :)

It was snowing twice, but it didn't last long. Hopefully that's it when it comes to winter this year.
