From Saint Sava to Captain Miša's Mansion | Street Photography

20230824-DSCF2630-2.jpg

I'm really starting to enjoy my early morning walks, and each time I try to wake up and leave the house a little bit earlier. This morning I went out at 5:15 and the city was still asleep. I got to the Kalemegdan fortress at 6am and missed the sunrise by 5 minutes. More on that in the next blog.

These photos are taken two days ago. I was in the Church of Saint Sava, magnificent and well known building of Belgrade and took some photos there. I tried to silence my street photography urge while inside, cause there were some cool patches of light as it breaks through the dome and people moving in them. The energy of the place is so calming...

Another structure that looked cool in the morning light is Captain Miša's Mansion. It's the building in orange and yellow facade around the windows that you'll see in some shots. It's a beautiful building from 19th century that hosts the University of Belgrade and couple of faculties. The sun hits it diagonally so part of it is in the shadow which makes for some cool compositions.

I also waited a bit at bus/tram stops when I see that light is hitting the area. This early in the morning it's from a low angle and very flattering. Some red details here and there are noticeable in the photos. I hope you enjoy the selection which is a continuation of the what I posted in previous posts. Stay tuned for more!

Photos taken with Fuji X-Pro2 and 35mm F/2 lens.

Lol yeah the public transport in Belgrade is not of the highest quality 😄
And for waking up early, transitioning slowly is a good strategy. Also, the most important thing is going to bed early - if I fall asleep at 9:30 it's easy to wake up before five. And also the intention - I tell myself I'm gonna wake up that early for a photo walk and I don't even need an alarm. 😄 Crazy but I easily wake up that early. Even today, after I went to sleep after midnight I woke up at the same time. :)
But 7am is also an excellent time to go out, not too hot.

That's not crazy - that's the greatness of the human mind that we can wake up without the alarm and early (when we want 😉)

And we should not forget the importance of discipline - for going to sleep on time hahah, and also the motivation - to get up for an early morning walk. At the same time, I know that distraction is messing up big time as we stay awake until pretty late. Blaming Hive! {yeah, I am searching for excuses 😂}

It's like when we were kids and there's a trip in the morning so we barely sleep that night because of the excitement and wake up early before the adults. :D That's the type of excitement we need to bring along with us when trying something new. It's easy to be disciplined then. :)
