A Series of Portraits on the Streets of Belgrade

20231213-DSCF6204.jpg

You can tell the holidays are approaching by the festive atmosphere that hovers in the air on the streets of Belgrade. Christmas decorations are set in place, the shops are attracting customers in with shiny things and discounts and the music, performed by buskers, echoes through the center.

It's always a very cheerful vibe this time of year despite the cold weather. The time when people forget about their problems just for a few brief moments. I normally don't enjoy New Year's eve and all the hype that goes into that one night, I never was a party person. But this extended holiday atmosphere I can get on board with. It's like those beloved, classic Christmas movies coming to life.

Today's short walk was an interesting one, I captured some nice moments and missed few opportunities by rookie mistakes. Auto-focus on my X-Pro2 and 35mm lens doesn't always snap quickly on the subject and the moment has passed, the photograph ruined. Let me walk you through the photographs.

Waiting for the owner in front of the shopping center.

Belgrade is full of tourists during this time of year.

These boxes turned out to be really heavy, the girl needed to take a break.

Just an example of unintentionally missed focus. I did grab another one with this interesting couple.

Students having "dramatic" conversations.

I absolutely loved her outfit, perfect for street photography. I wanted to get close and make another one but she was going too fast.

Last one in front of the bookstore, before I decided to turn around and not bother her anymore. :D

What an unusual bunch. There was something very interesting on the wall that the lady wanted to capture.

Returned with some equipment for a better access.

I had to sneak a peak to see what attracted her. :)

Lovely bookstore with great selection of classics, and it looks so pretty.

Deep in thought.

Cute outfit.

Love the stuffed bears on the roof.

This reflection came out quite nicely. Love the contrast of warm and cool tones.

I hope you enjoyed it. Until next time. :)

Belgrade looks beautiful in your photography. The color tone of the film-like images that you created feels soothing to the eyes.

Well done. Your photography is amazing, as always.

I was curious on how you achieve the color tone. Was it the camera itself? The weather? Or the way you process it photoshop/lightroom or any other apps that you use?

It's a combination of all three. The most important thing is to be there when the light or the weather is optimal. Camera itself has the least importance. Adding finishing color grading touches in Lightroom is also important.

Thanks for the tips.

I find it more conducive to take photos early in the morning and late afternoon.

Adding finishing color grading touches in Lightroom is also important.

I'll allow some time to re-learn color grading, it's been a while since I made an effort to post-process the photos I take.

Oh, the stuffed bears on that little roof... who knows what is the story behind them and how they got there? Well, the same interesting scene was to see the girl bringing the chair to photograph the Belgrade scenes from the past. And that bag <3. It's perfect.

I hope Snezana prepares good coffee and pizza :D

Haha yes, it was funny observing the woman with her dogs photographing interesting details on the street. Few minutes later she was at a different spot down the street, she found something else. :D And the dogs patiently wait.

Snezana is a place a bit too fancy for my taste. :D I don't think I've ever sat there, although I don't drink coffee so I'm not the best person to ask. :D

She can be a source of inspiration. Like, she investigates what is interesting in the street, and then others can approach the place too and take their own shots from their perspective :D

Wow! All the pictures look so beautiful! That lady attracted to the wall was indeed determined to get her pictures hehe while her dogs waited for her patiently. The lady with cute outfit, we both have the same tote bag 😊. The bookstore passed the vibe for me. Amazing shots especially the ones with the reflections. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Cute bag. :D There's a lot of interesting things to focus on while strolling through Belgrade, it helps me forget that I am in the same streets over and over haha. Thanks for the comment!

I love the fact that you're now adding wee stories to the pictures. They are already stellar on their own and evoke beautiful thoughts but the added text makes it all better. I can't even pick the one I loved more. The beautiful smile of the student or the lady in glasses. Picturesque.🌺🤗

Seems like you enjoy expressive faces. :) I do love capturing human emotion. I'll try to add a comment or a backstory to the images. Sometimes I'm lazy or don't think there needs to be something said, but you are right, it's more complete story this way. :)

Each photograph has a great story of its own, like the girl behind the glass of the bus..... It's a beautiful appreciation ♥
