RWASA - Mainline Leak and Temporary Repair
The RWASA water source was located about five kilometers more or less from the rural area where the water was distributed. It was laid in the middle of the jungle and areas not so risky as possible but not passable by human.
This area where the pipe leaked was hidden and we tried to locate it as our water pressure suddenly decreased.
A possible reason for the leak may be because a tree trunk fell down to this line. It took us 2 days to locate this problem.
Around October 2022, this leak was repaired. As the pipe bent a little, disaligned and union was not fit to fix this, a temporary solution was made. A PVC 3" pipe was heated and made it a sleeve.
We sure would love to use a sleeve type coupling that will be worth $30 but until this moment, our finances cannot afford it.
As you can see, this is how it's done. Many of these damaged links of fixtures were replaced with PVC then wrapped by rubber and a tire wire to stop the leaks. This piping was already 23 years after installation, so it is common to replace broken fixtures and rusty ones, but because of mismanagement, we suffer, in terms, the new management just to save our waters.
