Squid Spider in Sumatra
Actually, this is a common long-jawed orbweb spider (Tetragnatha extensa, Linnaeus, 1758), but I prefer to call it a squid spider. Why is that? Let's see when the spider straightens all its legs. Doesn't it look to resemble a squid?
I've seen this spider species in the grass several times, but I'm not interested in taking photographs of something like that. I suddenly felt compelled to catch it a few days ago. This was due to the fact that, upon closer observation, this was the coolest spider I'd been ignoring.
It has wide, translucent jaws, and the golden pattern on its elongated abdomen is beautiful. Isn't it a stunning and artistic thing?
