Monomad: Rhino Beetle

I've never actually seen a rhinoceros in my life. I only know what a rhinoceros looks like from magazines or on TV. I've never been to a safari park that showcases wild animals, as there is no such park in our city, even though I live in Sumatra—home to the Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), a protected and endangered species.

I noticed a rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) on rotten wood yesterday. It was like seeing a miniature rhinoceros. The horn, the texture of the shield with rough spots, and the beetle's features mimic a real rhinoceros. And what I wanted to do most at that moment was to stroke the horn.

I have never had the opportunity to see this type of beetle in person, but seeing it in your pictures and seeing its details makes it all the more impressive, beautiful photos!
