Monomad: Flower Chafer

I captured a flower chafer on a Sunday afternoon walk. The flower chafer is a diurnal scarab beetle belonging to the subfamily Ceteniinae. Its diet consists of pollen or nectar from flowers, as well as wild fruits.

The beetle appears to have encountered a mishap. It was entangled in a spider's web but managed to escape by tearing it with its claws before landing on the shrub.

Flower chafers are species of beetle with intelligent instincts. Highly sensitive to threats, they'll flee by taking off quickly or dropping to the ground. However, before hitting the ground, it will take off in a swift flight. That's a unique ability possessed by only a few birds.
