FungiFriday: Red Waxy Cap, with Fragile Frosty Bonnets

Sometimes you will find gems among ordinary stones; it only happens occasionally.

When I find mushrooms like this, it's like finding a jewel. This is quite reasonable because I rarely find this mushroom during the mushroom walks I have done. I captured these photos in December 2023.

The red waxy cap, or Hygrocybe coccinea, is a fungus that is rarely found, even during the rainy season.

The mushroom's fruiting body is brilliant red and very slimy, and the thing I like most about this mushroom is its gills.

I hope to find the same type of mushroom in the next rainy season.

At that time, some frosty bonnets (Mycena adscendens) were also found. The tall, slender stem is too fragile to support just a small cap.
