Historical buildings are living witnesses of the past. They speak to us, whisper what we do not know. When we look at them, when we touch their stones or when we are mesmerized by their majestic appearance, we find traces of the past. We find answers to questions such as how they lived, whether they had aesthetic concerns, what their social and economic structure was like. Of course, for a novice history traveler, this is difficult to understand. But those who travel with passion know well that every building, which is a legacy of history, speaks. Just like the Kurşunlu Mosque in Tavşanlı district of Kütahya province.

I came across Kurşunlu Mosque by chance while visiting the district center. When I learned that this building dates back to the 1300s, I started to examine it with excitement. Such buildings were always restored due to the wear and tear of time. There was a similar situation here. But the original parts of the mosque were still preserved. I headed inside to find out more. I came across a small section before the entrance to the place of worship. I also noticed two columns rising at the entrance. Most probably these columns were marble work from the early years of the mosque.

When I entered the gate, I entered a different world. All the walls under the high domes were covered with various ornaments and religious writings. I felt like I was in an open-air museum where the most beautiful examples of calligraphy were exhibited. It required great care and effort to delicately carve these embroideries on the walls.

Windows of various sizes let in light in different ways. As someone who likes to watch the distribution of light, I was fascinated by the play of light. There was a wonderful balance between bright and dark areas. It took me a while to tear myself away from these beauties and concentrate on different parts of the mosque. I started to examine everywhere, especially the two-way staircase behind me, which looked architecturally wonderful.

Finally, I would like to show you the classical sections inside the mosque, which are used by the clergyman in charge to chat with the congregation and give them religious information.

Tarihi yapılarla geçmişin yaşayan şahitleridir. Bizimle konuşur, bilmediklerimizi fısıldarlar. Onlara baktığımızda, taşlarına dokunduğumuzda ya da heybetli görünüşleri karşısında büyülendiğimizde geçmişin izlerini buluruz. Nasıl yaşadılar, estetik kaygıları var mıydı, sosyal ve ekonomik yapı nasıldı gibi soruların cevabına ulaşırız. Tabi, acemi bir tarih gezgini için bu anlaşılması zor bir durum. Fakat tutkuyla gezenler iyi bilir ki tarihin birer mirası niteliğinde olan her yapı konuşur. Tıpkı Kütahya ilinin Tavşanlı ilçesinde bulunan Kurşunlu Cami gibi.

Kurşunlu Cami ilçe merkezini gezerken tesadüfen karşıma çıktı. Bu yapının 1300'lü yıllardan kalma olduğunu öğrendiğimde heyecanla onu incelemeye başladım. Bu tür yapılar zamanın yıpratıcı özelliklerinden dolayı mutlaka restore edilirdi. Benzer durum burada da vardı. Fakat caminin özgün kısımları hala korunuyordu. Daha fazlası için içeriye doğru yöneldim. İbadet yerine girişten önce küçük bir bölümle karşılaştım. Ayrıca girişte yükselen iki sütun dikkatimi çekti. Büyük ihtimalle bu sütunlar caminin ilk yıllarından kalma birer mermer işçiliğiydi.

Kapıdan içeri girdiğimde farklı bir dünyaya giriş yapmıştım. Yüksek kubbelerin altındaki tüm duvarlar çeşitli süslemelerle ve dini yazılarla doluydu. Hat sanatının en güzel örneklerinin sergilendiği bir açık hava müzesinde gibiydim. Bu işlemeleri incelikle duvarlara işlemek büyük bir dikkat ve çaba gerektiriyordu.

Çeşitli boydaki pencereler ışığı farklı şekillerde içeriye alıyordu. Işığın dağılımını izlemeyi seven biri olarak ışık oyunlarını hayranlıkla gözlemledim. Parlak ve koyu alanlar arasında muhteşem bir denge vardı. Bu güzelliklerden kendimi sıyırıp caminin farklı noktalarına yoğunlaşmam zaman aldı. Her yeri incelemeye başladım. Özellikle arka tarafımdaki çift yönlü merdivenler mimari açıdan harika görünüyordu.

Son olarak cami içindeki klasik bölümleri göstermek istiyorum. Görevli din adamının cemaat ile sohbet etmek, onlara din bilgiler vermek için kullandığı bu kısımlar her camide bulunur.
