Micro and Klein Garden Journal 2026.03.08 /

I had been wanting to prune the trees in the garden for quite some time. With the help of a friend's family, the apple, cherry, European plum, and elder trees in the garden have become much tidier. To be honest, I mostly relied on my friend’s husband while I learned how to use the tools and helped gather the branches. I’m deeply grateful to their family for coming over with their car full of equipment — they even brought a large ladder with a hanger rack attached 🥺

Before the pruning, the trees looked like this. The branches had been left unpruned for several years and had grown quite dense.

Before

While thinking about the health of the trees and making sure the garden wouldn’t become too shaded, we removed quite a lot of branches, and the whole space looks much clearer now. I’m also happy that the trees are now at a height where I can probably harvest the fruit myself.

As we worked, I got to know that my friend’s husband has even cut down a 20-meter tree before. Incredible 😮

After

He also showed me some tools that are good to have for maintaining garden, so I ordered a few right away. I decided to invest in the same brand of tools that I had the chance to try during the pruning. If you enjoy this post, an Upvote would help cover part of the cost of those tools 😉

At the end, we also talked about repairing the shed. He suggested starting with reinforcing the roof, and then adding wooden boards to the inside walls so I can hang tools neatly. That would make the space look much nicer. I’m very grateful for the advice. I hope to work on these improvements little by little this year.

Now that the garden trees look so much clearer, my motivation for gardening has increased 💪 This week I’m planning to:

  • Prepare to move the berry plants from balcony pots into the garden
  • Tidy up the cut branches
  • Sow tomato seeds

Happy gardening everyone, and have a wonderful week 🌱

I like the wilder look in trees but can see why you would want them to be slightly easier to maintain! ^_^;

we probably need to do "something" about our not-dwarf peach tree soon x_x

Racks to hang tools is definitely helpful! Makes the shed much more organised and the tools easier to access. And if you haven't set up your shed yet it will be much easier if you do that from the beginning, our shed is chockers and we would need to clean it out to be able to organise it properly so we're procrastinating hard XD

Good luck with all the stuff :)
