Street-Tour: Come with me through Lisbon (Part 1)

in the Streets of Lisbon

Heyho, guys. Hope you all are doing well so far.

I plan to show you more of Portugal from time to time. Of course, Lisbon is at the top of the list. After all, this is where everyone arrives. Who flies to Portugal landed mostly in Lisbon and stays some days, one or two nights here, before the journey continues to the final destination.
Lisbon has many beautiful corners, here tradition meets modern. This is reflected in particular in the architecture again.

Both ruins, castle remains, as well as villas or apartment buildings can be found here. Sometimes an old historical ruin stands right next to a fancy, hipster new building.

I like this break in style. Lisbon is a special city. Beautiful and in some places a bit freaky. What connects the Portuguese tradition with street art are the world famous ceramic tiles. Oh yes, it's ware tile art here and historic in Portugal.

I show you today the area around:

It was around this corner, I was going for a creative walk, to get inspired for new art. I love to go for a walk, my eyes always catch some great inspiration or motivation.

Around here, you will find some nice streetart... Portuguese streetstyle of 'Azulejos'!

The so-called 'azulejos' dominate Lisbon's cityscape. You can find them on house walls, in leafy courtyards, in churches, in stairwells, in stores, cafes and restaurants, just everywhere. Sometimes the patterns are colorful, sometimes simple and easy, sometimes in all colors or in just one style. In any case, they are beautiful to look at and make me personally good mood and also inspire me for my art.

Wait, but what does azulejos means? Quite simply, the word 'Azulejos' means ceramic tiles. But the Portuguese word sounds exostic right?

What makes Lisbon and what I love around here are the many small side paths and hidden alleys and stairs. Some lead to dead ends, some are shortcuts. Exploring the streets of Lisbon is always a pleasure, a small adventure. Even for people which love to discover StickerArt, Graffitis, Azulejos or Architecture.

You can find a lot to look at, like on my pictures here, you can see examples of the 'Azulejos' but also different architectural buildings, from different ages of the city.

Aaaaw, Wait, I show you a hidden way, a hidden view point. Its a peaceful place, the backyard of a modern, fancy house complex. From there I saw also a graffiti, but even by going closer I was not able to get a real close up....

Best close up of this hidden streetart I could get with my Huawei P30. I don't know anything about the artist or background infos. I would say someone did it more randomly? If you have more infos about it, feel free to leave a comment.

I took a break at 'this hidden view point' before I walked back.
