The Cathedral of Lujan βͺοΈ - Argentina

Located 70 Km from the city of Buenos Aires, the Cathedral of Lujan is an imposing construction, huge with a neogothic style of the XIX century. It was built between 1890 and 19335 and is a symbol of the catholic church in the town of Lujan, visited by thousands of tourists every year.
Its towers measure 347.7 feet, its front 137 feet . A total building length of 341 feet.
This is the view from the outside but we go inside to contemplate the interior of this wonderful architectural work.
The Virgin Our Lady of Lujan is venerated there. She is the main image of this imposing basilica.
Each bell has its own name and slogan. The smallest weighs 55KG.
Inside:
The figure of the Virgin of Lujan arrived for the first time in Argentina in 1630, today known as the patron saint of the Argentines.
Antonio Farias de Sa (who commissioned the Virgin) wanted to put this statue in a humble chapel in his village located in Santiago Del Estero. When it arrived at the port it was dispatched, being transported in a cart pulled by oxen, but these were stranded on the banks of the Lujan River. The oxen only moved forward if the virgin was removed from the cart, a sign that they took to mean that she wanted to settle there.
Without imagining it, the one who commissioned the virgin, created the best known catholic symbol of Buenos Aires, and began to promote her devotion to such an extent that every May 8th, pilgrimages are made to this cathedral.
This last image is the altar to this Virgin and at the top of it, is the figure that is lowered during some masses and / or pilgrimages to circulate with the faithful believers.
Some of the dozens of stained glass windows inside. Beautiful works of art.
When we went there they were celebrating a mass but the tourists kept arriving. The amount of people was impressive and of course, this building is a beauty to visit.
This year my husband and two colleagues from work made the pilgrimage of more than 50Km walking.
I hope you liked the pictures. I was fascinated with the place (It is the first time I go there). It was almost 3 hours of trip but it was worth it to visit such an architectural monster. Greetings.
