light and shadow || Luz y Sombra [ENG/ESP]

In a quiet corner of the studio, beneath the soft light streaming through a high window, a scene was born, captured with the attentive eye of an artist.
On a thick cloth tablecloth, whose wrinkles seemed to hold the memory of many other afternoons, rested three objects, chosen not for their richness, but for their soul: a large glass bottle, an antique metal teapot, and a porcelain cup adorned with subtle filigree.

The composition was skillfully woven. The tall, rotund bottle stood like a silent column, imposing its presence in the space and balancing the scene to the right. Opposite it, the shorter but vigorous teapot caught the light with its metallic reflections, showing that the artist knew how to play with textures: the diffused glass and the shiny metal faced each other without conflict, in a dialogue of materials.

The delicately decorated cup was the small jewel of the scene. Its visual lightness balanced the density of the other two protagonists. With its small embellishments, it broke the sobriety of the whole, introducing a nuance of tenderness and detail, like a whisper in the midst of silence.

The artist understood the language of light and shadow. The shapes were shaped not only by the contours, but by the way the graphite, applied with varying intensity, created volume and atmosphere. Each fold of the tablecloth was drawn with the sensitivity of someone who knows that life also lives in the tiny undulations of the fabric.

There is no defined background, no distractions: only the objects and their intimate dialogue. The conscious choice of this emptiness enhances the strength of the composition, keeping the viewer's attention focused on the story.

The drawing, although in black and white, vibrates with nuances. The meticulous shading technique suggests transparency in the glass, coldness in the metal, and softness in the canvas, demonstrating a mastery of tonal values ​​and a profound understanding of the materials.

Thus, with pencil and paper, the artist not only captured objects on a table: he captured the passage of time, the calm of observation, and the silent poetry of everyday life.

The drawing and photography were made by my sister Fatima who is studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires.

En un rincón tranquilo del estudio, bajo la luz suave que entra por una ventana alta, nació una escena capturada con la mirada atenta de un artista.
Sobre un mantel de tela gruesa, cuyas arrugas parecían guardar la memoria de muchas otras tardes, descansaban tres objetos, elegidos no por su riqueza, sino por su alma: una botella de vidrio grande, una tetera de metal antiguo y una taza de porcelana adornada con sutiles filigranas.

La composición fue tejida con sabiduría. La botella, alta y rotunda, se alzaba como una columna silenciosa, imponiendo su presencia en el espacio y equilibrando la escena hacia la derecha. Frente a ella, la tetera, más baja pero vigorosa, recogía la luz con sus reflejos metálicos, mostrando que el artista sabía jugar con las texturas: el vidrio difuso y el metal brillante se enfrentaban sin conflicto, en un diálogo de materias.

La taza, decorada de forma delicada, era la joya pequeña de la escena. Su ligereza visual equilibraba la densidad de los otros dos protagonistas. Con sus pequeños adornos, rompía la sobriedad del conjunto, introduciendo un matiz de ternura y detalle, como un susurro en medio del silencio.

El artista entendió el lenguaje de la luz y la sombra. Las formas fueron modeladas no sólo por los contornos, sino por la manera en que el grafito, aplicado con distinta intensidad, creaba volumen y atmósfera. Cada pliegue del mantel fue dibujado con la sensibilidad de quien sabe que en las pequeñas ondulaciones de la tela también vive la vida.

No hay un fondo definido, no hay distracciones: sólo los objetos y su diálogo íntimo. La elección consciente de este vacío potencia la fuerza de la composición, manteniendo la atención del espectador en el centro del relato.

El dibujo, aunque en blanco y negro, vibra de matices. La técnica minuciosa de sombreado sugiere transparencia en el vidrio, frialdad en el metal y suavidad en la tela, demostrando el dominio de los valores tonales y la comprensión profunda de los materiales.

Así, con lápiz y papel, el artista no sólo capturó unos objetos sobre una mesa: capturó el paso del tiempo, la calma de la observación y la poesía silenciosa de lo cotidiano.
