LIL: Original Art, and Pictures from Many Places for the LMAC Image Gallery

avatar
(Edited)

Today's collection of pictures for LIL, the LMAC Image Gallery, features scenes from the world around, and scenes wrought from my imagination. The last three pictures in the post represent some fanciful 'doodling' I did with the MakeHuman program. In other images you will see scenes I found interesting, and you will find many cutouts.

I thank my children for sharing some of these pictures with me (taken expressly for LIL) and my husband for accompanying me on my picture-taking expeditions.

LIL, as most of my readers know, is a unique Hive resource that was created by the LMAC community. Anyone may contribute to this image library. Anyone on Hive may borrow from it: all images are public domain. Rules for contributing and borrowing are described here.

LMAC Collage Contest Begins Anew on Thursday, September 15
Set your clocks! Mark your calendars! The LMAC vacation is over. Artists starved for collage enrichment, join us this Thursday as @shaka challenges our creative selves with another template photo. I will certainly be there and will certainly try to create something particularly original.

To all my readers, stay healthy, productive and creative.

I find that some of these pictures/images are really nice, like those close to the sea or those of houses. Let's see how they will be used in upcoming LMAC contests. I am really curious (this being said, I should dedicate more time to check them out).

Hello @lemouth,

Nice to see you here. I'm really glad you like the pictures.

Close to the sea: Yes, I have fallen in love with the sea. We are planning to move (not easy after 48 years in the same place) and it would be nice to get someplace near the sea, someplace that is not in a flood zone 😄

My son sent me the pictures of those two houses. He travels often to a small community on the Hudson River, Peekskill. This community has a very regional feel to it. The homes often date back to the 19th century, and the whole area is steeped in history. He sent me a video of a local festival that gives an idea of the community feel. I tried to attach the video so you could watch, but I don't know how to attach videos. I did take a couple of screen shots though.

Thanks a lot for visiting. Hope your energy levels are returning to normal. That COVID fatigue has given me an idea for a blog--which will take some research.

Warm regards,
AG

Those pictures are amazing and very attractive. They make wanting to join and sit there, to feel the atmosphere better. I note the place, although there is little chance I ever get there (but who knows).

Have a nice day! I am leaving for HiveFest in Amsterdam tomorrow.

Hello @seki1,

Nice to see you here. I'm glad you like the pictures. Kind of a mixed bag, but maybe good for collages.

Looking forward to Thursday and the 'surprise' template @shaka has in store for us.😄

These are all really nice, @agmoore. It's fun to work with images. I have never tried making collages, but it's fun to stop by from time to time and see what you guys are up to. I'd be interested to know how you do the cutouts.

Hello @jayna,
So nice to see you here! It is fun to work with images, and a new hobby for me. I was never good at anything that used spatial or visual skills. I think I'm growing new brain cells with this hobby😆

The cutouts can be quite laborious. Usually I start with a picture that has a contrasting or plain background. There are sophisticated ways of doing this. I don't know these ways😅

I start with Paint 3D and use something called Magic Select. This is often a crude tool but sometimes works well. Once I get the image separated, I take it over to GIMP usually for cleanup, which can be quite tedious (or not!), Then I edit as usual.

It takes patience, but with practice it gets easier.

Thanks for you kind assessment of my images. It is much appreciated.

You should post some pictures of them. There are three beaches represented in the post:

Long Island Sound
Potomac River
Atlantic Ocean

The rocky beach was on the River.

Thanks for visiting, and commenting!
