The Canon Nifty-Fifty
The Canon Nifty-Fifty
Pretty much all camera brands; Sony, Canon, Fuji, Pentax, Nikon, etc., have a version of it. The 50mm prime lens. It's such a staple focal length because it's considered to offer a "normal" field of view. "Normal" because the field of view it covers is equivalent to what the average person sees with their eyes without any lenses .
This lens, the specific one in my video, is one I've owned for a long time. I bought it shortly after buying my first DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera nearly two decades ago. This lens from Canon was so good that it was the most popular lens in the world, and the king of lenses, for nearly 30 years before it was updated.
I still actively use this lens, especially for portraits, and love it. I have an adaptor for it so I can use it with my M50. Prior to getting my M50, I used it with a Sony camera via an adaptor.
Lenses hold their value pretty well too. If I were to sell this lens today, I can recoup my money and maybe even make a profit on it even though I've used it for so long.
Peace & Love,
Adé
I bought my first DSLR with the Canon EF 50/1.4 lens only. I didn’t have the 18-55 vario lens that was sold with most of the canon cameras back then. I mean… when the EOS 30D was released. Never regret for buying this and skipping the zoom lens!
That's a supreme lens! I got the "kit" lens (18-55) with mine but it became useless once I got the 50mm for most cases apart from landscape.
My kit lens became the EF-S 10-22 when I bought it about a year after the 50mm it was crazy wide! 😁
I miss the time with my first DSLR!
Now I pretty much shoot a 22mm (approx 35mm effective) - for all purposes now. Too lazy :)
You are absolutely right this camera has been around for a long time and the new models that come out. I also want to buy a camera, I am also thinking of searching for the camera as you have detailed it and buying one because the result is very good.
