Strapped For Action - Getting back to photo walks
Strapped For Action
I just bought a new neck strap for my camera. I had a neck strap before, but it was uncomfortable and flimsy so I wasn't keen on having my precious camera hanging from it for more than a few minutes. As such, it was a pain to go shooting for long periods of time without carrying a bag of some sort to place the camera in.
As such, I've been trowing my camera around my neck while on walks. This means I've been taking more photos with the camera, and not just my phone. I'd normally resort to just using my phone if I didn't feel like carrying a bag - especially during this hot season.
The photos can be a lot better, but I'm practicing using my camera in full manual mode these days without reviewing the photos after each shot. I used to shoot a lot of film, so it was a skill that I had before but, since I've stopped shooting film, I'm not so good at it anymore. Use it or lose it.
It's also been quite sunny, which is terrible for photography. That may sound counterintuitive to some, but the best light for photography is overcast conditions. If the sun must be out, then golden hour light is acceptable, or even desirable, especially for portraits of people.
Finally, I think digital sensors still struggle with rendering the colour red. It's just never right. I don't know why.
I'm also not a big fan of post-processing, probably because I'm no good at it. As it happens, half of "photography" happens after the photo as been taken. It means my photos are almost aways only half done.
Peace & Love,
Adé
