A Splendid Day In London

It was supposed to rain, for at least half the day, on Sunday, but the sun claimed it's day.
Rater, then, it was pleasantly sunny and mild, and borderline t-shirt weather at times. As such, I was glad I didn't cancel my plan to hang out in London town today. I was on the south bank of the river, between the Golden Jubilee bridges and Tower Bridge. It was a delightful walk filled with joyous Londoners and visitors alike. It was the perfect day.
As it happened, previously unbeknownst to me, it was the London Marathon. Again, rain had been forecasted for the day, but the rain never came. In stead there were mostly clear blue skies, with patches of cloud. The temperature was between 14 and 17 degrees Celsius which, I assume, is great for outdoor running at Marathon pace. Talking of which, I saw a few fancy dresses on the move including Scooby-Doo and all manner of pirates and fairytale characters.
The river was relatively calm with tide at medium height. It meant though the water touched the banks at most parts, it had a beach at the wider parts, such as near the Shakespeare Globe and Tate Modern, where adults, children and dogs could be seen playing and walking around.
It wasn't the best day for photos, overcast days are much better, but I was able to grab some good ones here and there. I took more video that photos because I wanted to capture the sound. There was the usual cacophony of London; vehicles, people going about their business and, being Sunday, periodic church bells. There was, in addition, a constant roar and cheering of the onlookers of the London Marathon which was now at a distance from me the width of the Thames River. Also, there was what must be the sound of tens of thousands of running shoes hitting the tarmac, which presented as constant hum.
'Twas a splendid day in London on Sunday.
Peace & Love,
Adé

Wow, damn pretty smithhh
It's not bad is it?
A lovely day, although the autumn is constantly reminding of itself. Especially in England, rain is not something unusual.
Great photos. The only thing that makes me like these big cities are the gorgeous buildings that constantly keep on changing the city scape. But the peacefulness is all that brings me back in, and makes me like the small towns.
Yeah, I love to travel into the city for the day, but then back out to the outskirts haha. I used to live bang in the middle of town, and loved it at the time, but I couldn't do it now.
unbeknownst
Holy mads that's quite a fancy word, my friend
One's a wordsmith, isn't one. 😂
Saludos amigo, que bueno que la meteorología no arruinó sus planes. La embarcación se ve genial. Y la temperatura me la imagino, muy fresca. Es un lindo lugar. Felicidades.
Muchas gracias. Sí, el día fue muy bueno 🙏 😎
Beautiful shots!
Thank you
I love that part of the city. Have you ever walked the entire stretch of river from the south bank to Greenwich? That’s a long one but a good day out. We caught the clipper back to London eye from Greenwich when we did it.
I love your account. Made me feel like I was there with you!
Yes I've done the walk. There are some parts that you have to walk on a road that's not on the bank, since they're blocked off or no paths, but the walk is a good one. Thanks
Yes and that’s a bit annoying how that has come about!
