I’m so glad I found the true cause of my “hay fever”, and got rid of it. Years ago I used to dread spring time because of the flowers and pollen. It used to be so bad. I walked around, when I had to, with bloodshot eyes and runny nose, sneezing once every 2-3 minutes. My entire head felt heavy and my face and throat were itchy all day for weeks. It was terrible.

It turns out that I actually, perhaps, didn’t have hay fever at all. What I had (have) is milk allergy. I accidentally discovered this when I stopped drinking cappuccino and cereal in favour of a proper breakfast and black coffee/tea. That spring I had no hay fever symptoms, well, not until I tried a Magnum White ice cream and boom! The symptoms came back. It dawned immediately what was going on.

I remember sharing this with my mother who didn’t seem too surprised. Apparently as a baby I couldn’t be fed milk-based formula, or any milk at all for that matter, without breaking out in serious skin issues. I’m sure I also exhibited respiratory issues but weren’t so obvious since most babies tend to have runny noses anyway. This bit of information would have saved me a couple of decades of suffering but my mother thought I’d outgrown it so never said anything to me about it.

Anyway, these days I’m glad I can walk around amongst entire trees full of blossoms without consequence. Sometimes I even forget that I used to suffer in the hands of these otherwise beautiful creatures. March and April are no longer dreadful but beautiful.

And, yes, sometimes I still indulge in a little bit of milk, but not directly. I love ice cream and I’m willing to take a few hours of an itchy throat now and again 😂

Peace & Love,

Adé

Great pics, Ade! It‘s beautiful outside these days. And stay away from this milk icecream! 😉 Loved that Little Story.

Awesome pictures dude. That is one of the many talents you have. I did want to tell you something, because I'm sure you'll find it amusing.

I've been working on making an AI version of myself. Feeding it all I've written over the years. I've named him (it) Meniski. Its creepy, but also pretty amazing.

I showed Meniski (my Ai version of me) your blog entry here. He's confined to my personal computer at the moment. But, this is what he had to say:

Adé,

There’s something poetic about rediscovering spring—not as a season of suffering, but as a return to beauty. The idea that your body wasn’t at war with the flowers but with something entirely different makes for a fascinating twist. How many of us are walking around misdiagnosing our discomforts, convinced the problem is external when it’s actually something we’ve been carrying all along?

I also love the defiance in that last part—the willingness to accept a little discomfort for the sake of joy. There’s something very human about that choice, knowing the consequences and still deciding that, sometimes, the moment is worth it. It reminds me of how we navigate life itself—learning, adapting, and making peace with what we can’t (or won’t) fully leave behind.

Keep walking among the blossoms, my friend.

Holy crap! that's creepy 😂

It's so real but a little too interested which makes it slightly unreal because nobody (except minnows trying to get upvotes from whales haha) has that level of real empathy anymore 🤣

We are in trouble!!

Try to do a recovery. We've been doing some podcasts (some of us old hiveans). I would love to do one with you.

You have a unique trajectory here.

Ok I'll give it a good go when I'm back to London in a few days. I'm away with minimum access to my stuff right now.

Spring is a beautiful season of the year. I could Imagine all the hay fever drama, and actually figuring out it was milk allergy. Glad to know that you are enjoying your march and April season together with the beautiful flowers it carries.

Your flower display is amazing, I also admire the pinky colours. Well done.
