My Actifit Report Card: April 22 2024

Look at this gorgeous pink flowering cherry blossom tree. It is even fluffier looking today. The pink balls of flowers look like scoops of strawberry ice cream.

The woods are absolutely beautiful today.

This is a beautiful white trillium of the woods.

This is a white cherry blossom tree branch hanging in front of a cedar tree.

The sun was shining on the white blossoms brightly.

Blue bells and white blue bells are here and the colors are so beautiful with the sun shining on the flowers.

Bleeding hearts are looking beautiful in the sunlight.

This flower is a skunk cabbage flower with large green leaves.

And a white Rhododendron with a bee on the second one.

Have a great week all.

Barb

The pink blossoms look like pom-poms! So beautiful! All of them are, but I especially like the picture with the bee. So nice!

I think the sun is making things look especially pretty. I've noticed this lately; something with it seems different.

Awesome pics sis, as always! Much love coming you way!🤗💜😘😍🌹😇😁💕🌷💜😎😇 !LADY !LUV !LOLZ

Thank you so much @elizabethbit Sis! Yes the sun seems particular brilliant this spring doesn't it! Yes the pink blossoms look like pom-poms too Sis. For some reason I always think of strawberry ice cream scoops 🍦 🍨 from childhood when I was very little. I looked at pink blossoms with my mom in our driveway and thought of 🍦 🍨 scoops of strawberry ice cream. I had just watched a cartoon with these little kids in a place where everything was made of ice cream scoops on trees 🍦 🍨 - like a field of trees made of ice cream! I really liked that cartoon and thought of the trees pink blossoms as scoops of strawberry ice cream since then. !BBH !CTP Sending much love to you as well Sis!

Ice cream is good! I am glad the trees aren't though, as I'd want to eat it all, lol! Take care my sis, and enjoy the weekend! Much love to you!🤗💜😘😍🌹💕🌞🌷🤗🤗💜😘😍🌹💕🌞🌷🤗 !LADY !LUV! !LOLZ

Yes, I agree Sis! I'm glad the trees aren't ice cream. I would eat all of the ice cream trees too 😂😂 I want to make an NFT of Pink Blossom called Scoops of Strawberry Ice cream though. I made a beautiful NFT of a daffodil I saw that reminded me of the colors of a Dixie Cup I use to get many years ago made with Vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet. 🍨https://nftshowroom.com/adcreatordesign/collection
I don't know if you had those or not or remember them @elizabethbit. Much love back to you Sis!

Thank you @elizabethbit Sis! Do you have any NFTs on NFTshowroom? Oh I am not sure. I will check online. I made my NFTs with my photographs and Canva Pro and now just regular Canva and Microsoft Paint. I want to get the Canva Pro again when I can afford it.
In my search I found a tub of orange and vanilla sherbet and ice cream at Foodland - Dryers Ice Cream, talking about it on The Pop of YesterYear blog and Reddit discussion. See below, Sis.

Hey there @adcreatordesign! I hope your day was lovely as well! I did a little gardening and then we hiked after a stop at a neighborhood May Day Tea. I think I might have overdone it a bit as I am achy, but hopefully after a good night's sleep, I'll be just fine.

Take care and enjoy the rest of today and have a beautiful day tomorrow!🤗💜🌞🌤😇😁💕🍄🌷😎😍😘🌹🌸😻🤗 !LADY !LUV

Hello, Sis! Great to hear from you @elizabethbit. Yes my day was very restful and I need to start exercising again. I don't know why I feel like doing nothing for so long. 😂😂Maybe I'm a bit under the weather but not too bad. I guess it could be the dark and rainy weather. Where did you hike? Did you have any mountain views? I hope you had sunshine, Sis! Have a great week ahead. Barb !BBH !CTP 🌟🙏🤗💜💗😘😍🌷🌺😍😘💗💜🤗🙏

We are very blessed to have a homeowner at the end of our road who owns a lot of land. They allow us 24/7 access to it. There are many trails on their land and it connects to literally a land baron who is a logger, but stewards his land well and replants. He has many plots with signs when the forest was replanted. A true tree farm with a wise manager!

Between these two, we have well over 75 acres of land to conquer! It's quite amazing! We never run into anyone (except maybe Mr. Bear or Cougar) when we are out. It's just lovely!

Take care sis! 🤗😘😍💕🌸🤗🤗😘😍💕🌸🤗 !LADY !LUV

That is wonderful @elizabethbit Sis! That is nice to know he cares about trees and does he tree farming the proper way. That is wonderful! We need more tree farm managers like him! Wow this is nice to know! Oh Mr. Bear and Mr. Cougar, Wow! Do you wear bear bells on your shoes? You take care too Sis and thanks for sharing. More people should learn about this way to farm trees! Much love to you and hubby! 🌟🙏🤗💜💗😘😍🌷🌺😍😘💗💜🤗🙏

Hey sis! Bear bells are actually dinner bells as the bear is curious about the noise and will seek you out! I don't aim to be his dinner!

In the past, when the snow falls and we would hike, we'd come upon cougar tracks. Once, a mama and a baby set and then when we started up the narrower trail, it became confusing just who was tracking who! We left, needless to say!

They are always around; most of the time you just don't realize it. We have come across a pile of scat that was fresh and steaming once. Gave us pause for thought!

We've had a couple of close encounters with bears, but far enough away (except for the baby one) to not have to worry too much.......just a little!

Take care sis!🤗💜😎😍😘🌞💕🌸🤗 !LADY !LOLZ

OK, Sis. Are you talking about Black Bears? You must be. That isn't good that they will follow the sound of bells. I read it was good to warn bears with bells, but I think those are for grizzly bears only. I know if a black bear comes to your camp to look big hold your arms out to your sides not at your sides and throw rocks and sticks at them to make bears leave and hit some pots and pans together to make real loud noises - Yell loud too. I remember backpacking in the North Cascades back in mid 90s and the people on the other side of the lake were doing that banging with pots and pans because of a black bear. But this is what I learned. I'm sure you know your bears and things to keep them away. We had to hang the food up high on bear wires at the camp sites along the trail. We registered at the ranger station for the backpacking camp sites 32 years ago. I think we did a 3 night trip. It was really long! That was the last time I back packed I think. Take care Sis big hugs have a great rest of your week!

Yes, black bears! Never look any bear in the eye as it is taken as a challenge! We've been taught to back up slowly and talk in a low volume voice and be calm. If they charge you, then you have no recourse but to either fight, or bear spray or if you have a gun (and it better be a big one) then shoot. Wear a backpack as it will protect your neck and spine. I'm not sure playing dead is a good idea.

Grizzly bears, well hope and pray you survive. I hear of a guy once who did survive crossing with a mama grizzly and got away, but then she followed somehow and he had round 2! He got lucky and did survive. There is no reason to how they react!

Cougars: you want to make yourself big and speak in a manly voice the word no. It seems that it is a universal understanding, even in the animal kingdom, and they understand it. Never, never squeal high pitched sounds as they believe you are prey and could come after you. Never, never run! A lower caliber gun will take care of them should it come to that, but if that's where it leads to, shoot to kill. Most times, they won't bother humans unless they are hurt, starving or sick.

If I stop to think about it too much, I might not would venture out. We had a close encounter last year as we were descending; About 30 feet in front of us, ran a baby bear!. There were 3 of us on that hike; we all immediately stopped, and simultaneously began slowly backing up. We were hoping that mom was not as close as she might be. We backed some 100' back and just stood there listening and waiting. After about 15 minutes and no further movement, we went on down.

The forest is an interesting place for sure! Take care sis! Love ya much!🤗💜💕🌹🐌🤗🌸🌞🤗 !LAD !LUV !LOLZ

Hello, Sis. You have some excellent advice about hiking and wild animals.

I heard to never look into the eyes of any animal except your pet. 😸 Yes fight back with black bear with bear spray and don't run away you will look like prey (I've have never to run from a black bear). Being quiet worked for me plus not moving, not looking into her eyes, and you will read about it below.

How did the man get away from the grizzly? That sounds terrifying. Oh my he was followed - how terribly scary!!! I've heard don't run, play dead, wear bells so they hear you coming and then not to wear bells from you. I've heard different rules over the years. I have read some pretty scary grizzly encounters over the years, Sis. A lot of people died stalking them and being plain stupid and not following camping rules.

I heard about playing dead with the grizzlies not the black bear or cougar and running looks like prey to cougars and black bears. I guess a gun in grizzly country is a good idea. What would you do in grizzly country, Sis? I think I'd feel too tired to even deal with grizzly country to hike. Back in the 1990s rangers said there were some grizzlies in the North Cascades but recently I've read there are not any grizzlies at all.

I've heard these rules over the years and your rules sound most correct. 🤗

I had a bear encounter with a mother black bear and 2 cubs back in the late 90s hiking in the Glacier Peak Wilderness area on a trail called - I am not sure but I think it went to Kennedy Hot Springs. I read that 643 was washed away in 2003 and so was the dirt road to it. I went on a day hike by myself and walk about 4 1/2 miles in and 4 1/2 back. On the way back I came around a bend in the trail which was a blind spot until I went around the bend. standing in front of me was a mother black bear and 2 of her cubs not very far. The mother was in the middle of the trail and we looked at each other and froze. I had a hiking stick that was tall and her cubs were coming down the embankment to the trail. I didn't move and I didn't look into her eyes. What I saw of her eyes was a very kind gentle soul, but I was scared. I tried not to think of anything during those moments. I was wondering what to do so I just adjusted my balance - a very slight move and I didn't say a word. After adjusting my balance which I didn't do until her cubs were down to the trail and then off the trail did I make this slight move. She ran away with her cubs!!! I ran a couple of miles all the way back to the car LOL! 😂😂🐻🐻 The White Chuck River road and trail 643 is buried too.

Much love to you Sis, hubby. !BBH !CTP 🌟🙏🤗💜💗😘😍🌷🌺😍😘💗💜🤗🙏

That is scary for sure sis! I'm glad it ended the way it did.

As for Grizzly bears......I pray I never have to find out! My son who lives in North Bend, WA says that there are grizzly bears now in Washington state! He would know as he has a key that is given out by lottery to some locked acreage meant only for those who have the key, so he is up on what is in the forest. He does carry because of that.

I don't own anything big enough to take out a bear, so the bear spray would be the best defense. I'm not sure though how it would really work on a grizzly as they are ornery and tenacious! Like I said, I hope I never have to find out!

Much love to ya, sis!🤗💜😍😘🌹🌟🌻💟💕💛🤗 !LADY !LUV
