The Beauty of the Wild Ocean | The Dock of Puerto de La Cruz (Tenerife)⚓🌊 [ESP-ENG]

On my last visit to Puerto de La Cruz, I walked through several areas of the city, starting in Punta Brava, where I visited some black sand beaches that I portrayed in a previous post. The walk ran close to the western coastline of the city, and it wasn't long before I reached the city's dock. "El Penitente" is the name of the pier, the place where launches and small boats park.

This pier has a breakwater that goes into the sea, allowing to walk on it until reaching the farthest end of land. In the Google Maps you can see it better. Walking along this dike allows you to observe the contrast between the calmer water of the pier, where people can swim, and the other side, where you can observe and almost feel the ocean, wild and fierce.

The dike is not very wide, so the strong waves crash against the cubic stones and can bounce water back towards you. Being at the far end of the pier is a unique sensation, you can see up close the strong ocean swell and how the waves crash against the stones of the coastline, generating a good amount of foam.

Walking along this pier you can find several interesting things. The pier also has a small stone beach ideal for children. In addition, from various points, you can see a castle or rather a defensive battery of a fortification that operated centuries ago. It is always pleasant to walk around Puerto de La Cruz through its old-style streets, which combined with the modern gives it a "bohemian" touch.

This walk not only brought me for the first time to the city's pier, but to other very interesting sites around it, including a very picturesque square and a museum dedicated to fishermen. I hope to share these in upcoming posts, as they provide unique sights and very curious things. Very close by is even the city's Town Hall, and beyond that, other very touristy sites such as Calle San Telmo and Parque Lago Martiánez.

In fact, I am not far from covering the entire coastline of this city with my posts on my Hive blog. En mi última visita a Puerto de La Cruz, recorrí diversas zonas de la ciudad, iniciando en Punta Brava, en donde visité unas playas de arena negra que retraté en un anterior post. La caminata transcurrió cerca de la línea costera oeste de la ciudad, y no transcurrió mucho tiempo antes de llegar al muelle de la ciudad. "El Penitente" es el nombre del embarcadero, el sitio en donde lanchas y pequeñas embarcaciones se estacionan.

Este muelle posee un espigón (escollera) que se interna en el mar, permitiendo caminar sobre él hasta llegar el extremo más alejado de tierra. En el Google Maps lo puedes apreciar mejor. Caminar por este dique te hace poder observar el contraste entre el agua más calma del muelle, en donde las personas pueden bañarse, y el otro lado, en donde puedes observar y casi sentir el océano, salvaje y feroz.

El dique no es muy ancho, por lo que las fuertes olas chocan contra las piedras cúbicas y pueden hacer rebotar agua hacia tí. Estar en el extremo más alejado de tierra es una sensación única, puedes ver de cerca el fuerte oleaje del océano y cómo chocan las olas con las piedras de la línea costera, generando buena cantidad de espuma.

Caminando por este muelle puedes encontrar diversas cosas interesantes. El muelle también posee una pequeña playa de piedra ideal para niños. Además, desde diversos puntos puedes divisar un castillo o más bien una batería defensiva de una fortificación que operaba siglos atrás. Es siempre agradable caminar por Puerto de La Cruz por sus calles de estilo antiguo, lo cual combinado con lo moderno le da un toque "bohemio".

Esta caminata no solo me trajo por primera vez al muelle de la ciudad, sino a otros sitios muy interesantes a su alrededor, lo cual incluye una plaza muy pintoresca y un museo dedicado a los pescadores. Espero compartir esto en próximas publicaciones, ya que proporcionan vistas únicas y cosas muy curiosas. Muy cerca de allí se encuentra incluso el Ayuntamiento de la ciudad, y más allá, otros sitios muy turísticos como la Calle San Telmo y el Parque Lago Martiánez.

En una anterior publicación, les compartía vistas de Puerto de La Cruz desde el Mirador La Paz, desde allí puede observarse el Lago Martiánez desde arriba. Caminar por el Puerto de La Cruz es una experiencia única. De hecho, no estoy muy lejos de cubrir toda la línea costera de esta ciudad con mis publicaciones en mi blog de Hive.
