RE: STOP USING MY PHOTOS AND POSTS WITHOUT MY CONSENT

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

Just because someone might steal my photo (watermarks don’t protect anything with today’s graphics software) doesn’t mean you should encourage and reward people for doing so

We're not rewarding them for stealing content. We're rewarding them for sharing your and anyone else's content, if you see someone sharing your content pretending it's their own we will immediately ban them. They are required to link back to the original creator to even be picked up by the bot.

We've curated creators for close to 9 years now with OCD and we continue to do so today, rewarding sharing is only a part of what we do.

You're acting as if all stakeholders/projects are only rewarding sharing and ignoring authors/content when it is mainly just us rewarding sharing experimenting to attempt to bring traffic to this place when close to no one has bothered to share their content outside of this platform in the past without additional incentives.

So yes, we do incentivize them to share because no one was sharing in the past and we've seen great numbers of traffic coming in and plan to expend our sharing operations beyond reddit to whichever platform allows us to do so.

Either way, we'll be enforcing a rule that if some sharers repeatedly ignore someone's requests not to share their content they will be banned from the project. I'll also ban your account now since you wish not to participate in the project.

OK. For that reason alone, it was worth creating this post.
