The Moustache Man: A Six Hours Long Boat Ride Tale

So, we pretty much set sail from here, if I consider the boat gas station as the starting point. In reality, though, the boating adventure I embarked on yesterday with a friend began at his deck.
Our first order of business was cleaning the boat, followed by getting the beers on ice, firing up the engine, and setting sail. It was a splendidly warm Saturday, and it would have been a travesty to waste it cooped up indoors or at some restaurant.
So, with our plan in motion and the beers chilling on ice, we were ready to roll. But first, as mentioned earlier, we made a pit stop at the gas station. It was there that I had the revelation that I could brave the ride without my shirt on...
This black beast is powered by two robust 250-horsepower engines and boasts an estimated price tag of around $200,000. It's a real shame to see it idling so frequently in that dockyard when, in my opinion, this magnificent vessel is meant for the open sea, not the calm and tranquil waters of the Danube.
Regardless, after we filled up our tank with gasoline and enjoyed a beer with the gentleman working at the station, we set course for Decebalus' face. This monumental rock sculpture, standing at an impressive 50 meters in height and 25 meters in width, holds the distinction of being the largest in all of Europe. We spent some quality time in the Mraconia Bay, where this remarkable sculpture is located.
While there, we cracked open a few more beers and engaged in some lively discussions about business, money, and cryptocurrency, a subject I admittedly struggle with...
I don't know if this guy(Decebal) wore a moustache in real life but he sure now has a cement one...
I guess I should work harder at the gym...
So, after spending some quality time in Mraconia Bay, home to the famous Decebalus face rock sculpture, we decided it was time to set our course further upstream. Our destination was the picturesque village of Dubova, once predominantly inhabited by Serbs. It was here that my friend had planned to meet up with a few of his buddies...
Since we had arrived by boat, my friend had to take his pals on a short spin. This left me on the shore, as the boat simply wasn't large enough for all of us. I decided to make the most of it and enjoy another beer, especially after indulging in a delightful meal at a charming restaurant by the water.
Regrettably, I forgot to snap any pictures at the restaurant, except for one with my beer in the foreground and my sunglasses casually resting in the background. I can be quite the scatterbrain at times, or perhaps, it was the result of a tad too much beer on that warm afternoon.
We cruised past several cargo and tourist ships, and one of them caught my eye enough to snap a couple of photos, both on our way up and on our way back down the river. Can you guess which one it was?
As the sun began its descent below the horizon, it signaled the end of our river adventure, and it was my turn to take the helm. While not the fastest boat on the water, it handled the waves gracefully, making for a pleasant ride.
Being at the wheel of a boat is a different experience compared to driving a car. One notable difference is that on a boat, you can afford to snap a few pictures here and there. So, I made sure to capture some of my favorites: the stunning sunset scenes...
I hope you've enjoyed this little aquatic journey with me. Wishing you all a fantastic Sunday, and until next time, take care!
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

I love boost trips and I love boats generally when I visit a city on the sea or a like I always take boat trips ❤️ by the way the rocks looks amazing but also the water near the sunset hours, such a view!
Glad you like the pics. Thanks for stopping by.
Amazing view 😍🤩
Yep 😉
Wow, this place is very beautiful and these photographs are top notch. Thanks for sharing ☺️
True. That's why it is so full of people every year.
These are beautiful shots, I love how greenish the water appeared in the photo, you really had a good time with the cool breeze of nature
That's the typical color of the Danube. In spring it is usually brown due to melted snow water coming through all sorts of affluents. Or because of heavy rain...
You're right about those motors on that boat, as I was looking at them I too thought they seemed powerful enough to take you out to sea! I hadn't heard of that impressive rock sculpture, but I had heard of Dacia when reading about Roman history.
Good to know the ancient King is still remembered and celebrated today. I wonder if is tomb has passed down the ages to us? That sculpture gives the area a 'Lord of the Rings' type feel to the place, and perhaps they'll build another one on the opposite side to another beloved ruler. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you! :)
That was the plan. The businessman who paid for this one made an agreement with Serbia do sculpt Trajan's face on their side so that they can look in each other's eyes.
The man died at 92 and not even this is completely finished.
I like these places very much, I have visited them several times including the cruise on the Danube and of course I couldn't miss a visit to Decebal's head, an amazing creation.
Too bad they didn't finished the sculpture. It's something like 70% done.
I think that probably also gives it a certain beauty, the fact that it hasn't been finished, even Da Vinci's Mona Lisa isn't finished, but it attracts millions of tourists😉
Maybe... I'm curious though how it was supposed to look like in its final form.
I think this may be a mystery, what would it look like if it was ready, but it looks like we won't find that out anytime soon.
I know how it should look like. The man behind the project is from my town and he showed us the sketches but unfortunately the project will never be finished.
Wow, he's very lucky and I think among the few who had access to these sketches, I don't think they are public.
Most likely this project will stay like this forever.
He sculpted the thing with his team. He designed the sculpture...
Very nice photographs! Thank you so much for sharing them! All the best, take care, have fun, and plenty of success both here on HIVE and outside it!
Glad that you guys appreciate them. Wish you the same!
Thanks!
