Its scientific name is Litchi chinensis and it is mainly cultivated in large quantities in South China and Southeast Asian countries. Litchis look like they have just been picked from the tree. This is what fresh litchi looks like – light reddish or pink color, bright green leaves, and a slightly crispy coating. Inside is a jelly-like transparent, white sweet and juicy shell and a brown seed in the middle.

Litchi is not only sweet in taste, but many health benefits. It contains vitamin B-complex, potassium and fiber, which help increase body immunity. An average of 50-200 kg of litchi is available from a full tree every year. Farmers collect litchis in bunches from the tree at the beginning of summer. Litchis are usually marketed in the way the bunches are held in the picture. Talking about personal experiences with litchi, it must be said that this fruit is associated with many memories of our childhood. The experience of climbing a litchi tree in the village during summer vacation and eating litchis is still vivid in our eyes. What difference in taste between litchis found city market and the ones picked from that tree!
