Donkey carts- Monomad challenge

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
― Dr. Seuss, Happy Birthday to You!

Hi everyone. I hope you all are fine. I am doing well. This is my entry to the #monomad challenge. I hope you will like the photos.

I want to show you my side of the world through the black and white lens, the customs and norms and values and everyday life is very different here. There might be a lot of similarities and differences too. Lets see how it goes.

Today, I have decided to share some of the photos of donkey carts that I took recently. These are very mundane here in our region in Sindh.

This is my entry photo. You can see a little family traveling on this donkey cart. They are probably from a village who have come to the city to avail the facilities that are not available in their residential areas. Such poor people are very simple. The mother is covered in veil and the little girl is sitting by her side. I find it really amazing to be thinking about what that little girl must be thinking. This is my favorite photo that I have taken recently.

As mentioned earlier that people use donkey carts for different purposes. These are found in almost every street and on every road. People use these to travel and to carry different luggage. These are mostly from the lower class. It is safe to say that for many, this is the only source of earning in Sindh, Pakistan, mostly rural Pakistan.

I use my Google Pixel 5 as my main driver for taking pictures and I use Adobe literoom app to edit these in black and white.

The petrol and gas prices have gone up because of national and international dimensions. This is why donkey carts have been more common in recent years. After the covid pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the inflation has risen exponentially.

This is how the donkeys are tied to the cart. I presume this is a very creative and effective way to tie robes. The donkey pulls the carts as if it is its own part. You ca see the ropes here.

Here is another picture.

The buying and selling of donkeys has also observed a rise in recent months. People toe their newly purchased animals this way and travel to their villages.

You must be thinking that why have I posted about donkey carts. It is because this might not be a part of your daily lives, but it is very much a part of where I come from. Yes, the donkeys have been with human beings since the cave era, the rise of Egypt and so on. They have been our carrying luggage partners and I guess they deserve one blog about them.

Thank you so much for your time and support. It means a lot to me. Do share your thoughts and views in the comments section below so that we can learn and grow together. I hope you liked the blog and the pictures. Have a great day ahead and take care. Do not forget to follow my account for more such content.

Ps: The pictures are mine taken with my Google Pixel 5 and edited using the Adobe Literoom App.

The photographs are spectacular, especially that close-up of the donkey stands out. It is a shame to know the real background of that new market for animals, humanity as a species does not differ too much from them. Great photographic work that brings us closer to your everyday reality.
