Sunrises and quotations that resonate

The Glorious sun

What's not to like about the sun? It pours its warm bounty upon us every day, albeit blocked by clouds 372 out of 365 days here in Ireland, but that's not the sun's fault, it's those pesky grey clouds ruining our fun!

The sun of course is fundamental to the process of photosynthesis, without which we would all starve to death, as all trees, shrubs, crops etc rely on that chemical reaction, so breathing and eating would be impossible without the sun.

I'm partial to a bit of skiing and snowboarding, but imagine a world without a sun? We would be cast in darkness and the earth would be a huge ball of ice.

Then there is the beauty of the colours it produces in our skies from rainbows to sunsets, the Northern Lights to the most glorious sun rises.

Before I get to my photos and the quotes that came to mind around sunrises (with Google's help I might add) I remember learning this poem in school. It is by Emily Dickinson and I've always liked it and it too is on the theme of sunrises.

"I’ll tell you how the Sun rose –
A Ribbon at a time –
The Steeples swam in Amethyst –
The news, like Squirrels, ran –
The Hills untied their Bonnets –
The Bobolinks – begun –
Then I said softly to myself –
‘That must have been the Sun!’"

Jhiess Krieg

“Every sunrise is an invitation for us to arise and brighten someone’s day.”

Anthony T. Hincks

“The secret to a good morning is to watch the sunrise with an open heart.”

Bernard Williams

“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.”

Jonathan Lockwood Huie

“Another sunrise, another new beginning.”

William Arthur Ward

“Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.”

“Cherish the times you can watch the sunrise, there’s only so many in a lifetime.”

Sapna Reddy

“We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness.”

Ziggy Marley

“There is always a way and always hope in the next sunrise, and in the next second, and in the next minute.”

Conclusion

That big shiny ball in the sky is amazing. You'd be dead without it. Literally! It brightens our mood, nourishes our crops and inspires our artists.

We innately get hung up on the little stuff at times, us humans. The miracle and beauty of life surrounds us. The shining sun, birdsong, beauty everywhere, but all we can grasp onto is negativity sometimes. Let us open our eyes collectively and give thanks for what we have and remember none of it would be possible without that closest star of ours, the sun.

Hello there my friend! How have you've been? I've been missing a lot around here but I thought I should pass by and give you a big hello 😊

So fortunate to have found such shinny post from you! I really love sunrises and sunsets but now that I think of it, it's been a long time since I actually saw them 🤔🤔

“Cherish the times you can watch the sunrise, there’s only so many in a lifetime.”

This sentence you shared just hit me hard 😂😂 I think I will go watch a sunset this weekend, we never know right? 😆
