Clouds above us

Well if there's one thing for certain, there's no shortage of clouds in Ireland, no matter the season, no matter the county, clouds are never far away and often they're laden with a heavy bounty of rain, sleet or snow.

I particularly like the colours of these ones when I looked out the other day. We got the usual mini heat wave as soon as the kids went back to school in September and we had a few evenings with beautiful sunsets and gorgeous red skies at night.

It's starting to get a little bit colder now and I suspect we've definitely had the last of the heat waves for 2023. From here on it's going to be more rain and colder weather I suspect so I'm probably won't see too many more of these nice red skies at night.

It's funny how us humans are fascinated by certain colours in the sky. Take Green in the sky for example, people pay thousands and thousands of Euros to travel to Iceland and northern Scandinavia and other countries where they can see the northern lights.

To be honest it's something that I'd love to do some day myself and I can see why it attracts people but what's so different between a red sky and a green sky in the grand scheme of things? For me they are both beautiful and amazing in their own right, but I guess the rarity is what makes the Northern Lights special.
