Hello, photography lovers! Today I bring you chapter 31 with several photographic exercises that I did on the site 52frames during 2023, my fourth year there. I hope you find them interesting!

Hola, amantes de la fotografía! Hoy les traigo el capítulo 31 con varios ejercicios fotográficos que hice en el sitio 52frames durante el 2023, mi cuarto año ahí. Espero que les resulten interesantes!

Week 16, 2023: Blue hour/ Hora azul
I have been to the 110th Street breakwater many times. I have come in the storms, I have come for the fishermen, and I have come for the waves. But this time I needed blue. The time window would be open from 7:52 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. I was there 15 minutes earlier, giving me time to photograph the sun behind the clouds in the distance until it finally faded into the sea. Then my time came. From the beginning I had an ND64 filter on my lens, I wanted to take advantage of the calm of the inland sea to leave it like a granite track. In the distance you can see a few young people grouped together listening to music while sharing under the sea breeze, only two fishing rods resting alone on the edge of the far left. Camera Raw did the rest.

He estado muchas veces en el rompeolas de la calle 110. He venido en las tormentas, he venido por los pescadores y he venido por las olas. Pero esta vez necesitaba el azul. La ventana horaria estaría abierta de 19:52 a 20:15. Estuve allí 15 minutos antes, me dio tiempo de fotografiar el sol detrás de las nubes a lo lejos hasta que finalmente se desvaneció en el mar. Entonces llegó mi momento. Desde el principio tuve un filtro ND64 en mi objetivo, quería aprovechar la calma del mar interior para dejarlo como una pista de granito. A lo lejos se pueden ver pocos jóvenes agrupados escuchando música mientras comparten bajo la brisa del mar, sólo dos cañas de pescar reposando solitarias en el borde del extremo izquierdo. Camera Raw hizo el resto.

Week 17, 2023: One light source/ Una fuente de luz
Saturday night, my daughter in her pajamas. I got her out of her room using my parenting power, sat her down in the dining room and took a few quick pictures with a ring light of not much intensity, but it still did the job. Don't worry about my daughter, she survived.

El sábado por la noche, mi hija en pijama. La saqué de su habitación usando mi poder parental, la senté en el comedor y tomé algunas fotografías rápidas con un anillo de luz de no mucha intensidad, pero aun así funcionó. No te preocupes por mi hija, ella sobrevivió.

Week 18, 2023: Food photography/ Fotografía de comida
I had the idea to take a photo with my macro lens of a section of a bell pepper, but when I cropped out my subject, it didn't look as interesting as I thought or as I had seen it before. Then this chili chay came to the rescue, I suspended it in the air with the help of my telekinetic powers on a green background and here it is. An LED light helped me with the lighting and when editing I left the background with the same texture that you see here, it did not fit with a pristine background against my beloved condiment, a little mistreated by its peers where I have it stored. This chili is widely used in Cuba to season ground meats.

Tuve la idea de tomar una foto con mi lente macro de una sección de un pimiento morrón, pero cuando recorté mi sujeto, no se veía tan interesante como pensaba o como lo había visto otras veces. Entonces este chili chay vino al rescate, lo suspendí en el aire con la ayuda de mis poderes telequinéticos sobre un fondo verde y aquí está. Una luz LED me ayudó con la iluminación y al editar dejé el fondo con la misma textura que ven aquí, no encajaba con un fondo impoluto contra mi querido condimento, un poco maltratado por sus pares donde lo tengo guardado. Este chile es muy utilizado en Cuba para condimentar carnes molidas.

Week 19, 2023: Details/ Detalles
My engagement ring as a base for some tiny flowers that we put together with some roses on a special day, I don't remember which one it was. The roses are no longer there, but these little ones still have their petals, already with faded tones, but they are there. I liked the black and white version better. The drama of the contrasts is unsurpassable.

Mi anillo de compromiso como base para unas diminutas flores que juntamos con unas rosas en un día especial, no recuerdo cuál era. Las rosas ya no están, pero estas pequeñas siguen con sus pétalos, ya con tonos desvaídos, pero ahí están. Me gustó más la versión en blanco y negro. El dramatismo de los contrastes es insuperable.

Week 20, 2023: High key/ Clave alta
I wanted to take some product photographs and I convinced my wife to lend me her set of Carolina Herrera "212", a perfume that I gave her quite a long time ago and she still has it almost intact, both bottles. I placed them on top of a translucent surface with an LED light underneath and another LED fill light illuminating the wall in the background. The little flowers ("baby's breath" they call them here) from the previous challenge came to my aid as the third element of the composition.

Quería hacer algunas fotografías de producto y convencí a mi esposa para que me prestara su juego de "212" de Carolina Herrera, un perfume que le regalé hace bastante tiempo y todavía lo tiene casi intacto, ambos frascos. Los coloqué encima de una superficie translúcida con una luz LED debajo y otra luz de relleno LED iluminando la pared al fondo. Las pequeñas flores ("velo de novia" les llaman acá) del desafío anterior vinieron en mi ayuda como tercer elemento de la composición.

Some photos correspond better than others to each challenge posed...I will embrace imperfection!
Algunas fotos corresponden mejor que otras a cada reto planteado...abrazaré la imperfección!
