Continue off from my previous post, we arrived at Hatyai downtown at 8:00am and walk towards the Hatyai Train Station to purchase our train ticket. Train ticket cost THB1105 for the lower deck and THB1005 for upper deck ticket on 2nd class coach, we decided to grab one each. After purchase our ticket, we went around some restaurant to get a quick breakfast.

We decided to explore around downtown inside one of the mall, some cafes and street market until late evening before head back to the train station. We stopped at a supermarket to pick up some snacks and essential for the night. The train was scheduled to arrive at 5:30pm and depart at 5:45pm, so we wanted to make sure we had enough food to keep us satisfied during the journey.

As soon as we boarded the train, we found our seat and settled in. We were quite exhausted from our day of exploring, so I decided to have a quick dinner and go to sleep at around 8:00pm. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning on the train was freezing cold 22C constant, which made me a bit difficult to get comfortable.

I woke up around 6:00am the next day and checked the map to see how much further we had to go. To my surprise, we hadn't even reached halfway yet! Thailand is a massive country, and I realised that it was going to be a long journey. Train staff occasionally brought some food and drinks selling along the coach.

I grabbed some breakfast and spent the rest of the morning reading books and enjoying the scenery. At around 10:30am, I packed up my stuff and prepared to get off at the Bang Sue Station instead of the Bangkok Station. There is a MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) system interconnected with the Bang Sue Station, which made it an easier option for us to reach the final destination.

Overall, the experience of my overnight train journey from Hatyai to Bangkok was a long but enjoyable. We depart from 5:45pm and reach Bang Sue around 11:30am, which makes up a travel time of 17 hours and 45 minutes. It gave me a chance to see more of Thailand and relax while traveling. Try it yourself next time if time weren't a constrain to get a whole new travel experience.

I'm looking to do it again for my upcoming trip in 2023!
