Walking the same rural routes but at different times brings some advantages. For example, it allows you to see different animals, as each has its own schedule for moving around, foraging, resting, etc. On one of these afternoons I had the opportunity to see several butterflies in apparent evening relaxation and it allowed me to take some good photos. After 4:00 p.m. I went for a walk in a mountainous area. I had already done it those days but in the morning hours. So I was expecting to see something different, and so it happened. I was determined to walk slower and take the time to contemplate my surroundings. I took the opportunity to switch to my 85-300mm lens.

Then, in a very green area of vegetation a butterfly was very active in its flight. It was easy to spot in view of its size and the fact that I had seen this species before. I am talking about the Junonia genoveva. Wait, I don't know that name because they taught it to me in school. It was because I used Google Lens and that's what it came up with. It sounds very logical. That species is very abundant around here. They are usually very active and fast butterflies. Sometimes I see them alone or in pairs.

But this time I was privileged. I saw it at some distance and stopped walking. I took out the camera and waited for her to stop. And she did! Then I moved slightly to get the best shot of her and started shooting. It seemed as if it knew that I would photograph it, because it started to turn on the flower itself while moving its wings up and down. This allowed me to look at it from different angles and it was beautiful.

A few seconds later it flew to another plant nearby, and there it was more still, which meant that I was able to take a picture of it from an angle that allowed me to admire the design of its wings, with those big polka dots and nice contrast. I am satisfied with the pictures taken that afternoon.

I had a focal length of 300 mm and an ISO of just 200. The subject was very small. Because of all this, I needed to have an outstanding stability for the pictures to turn out well. So, to help me, I used a speed of 1/320s and an aperture of f/9 to achieve acceptable lighting and sharpness.

Every time I look back on these types of photos I remember the importance of those moments, both for their physical and emotional benefits. I remembered that it has been a few weeks since the last time I did it. So I must get back to these activities soon. I'm sure I'll be back to show you the results. Caminar las mismas rutas rurales pero a diferentes horas trae algunas ventajas. Por ejemplo, te permite contemplar animales diferentes, en vista de que cada una tiene sus propios horarios para trasladarse, buscar alimento, descansar, etc. En unas de éstas tardes tuve la oportunidad de ver varias mariposas con aparente relajación vespertina y me permitió tomarle algunas buenas fotos. Por favor, acompáñame.

Pasadas las 4:00p.m. fui a caminar por una zona montañosa. Esos días ya lo había hecho pero en horas de la mañana. Así que esperaba con éste horario ver algo diferente, y así sucedió. Iba decidido a caminar más lento y tomarme el tiempo para contemplar mi alrededor. Aproveché de cambiar a mi lente 85-300mm.

Entonces, en una zona muy verde de vegetación una mariposa estaba muy activa en su vuelo. Fue fácil de detectar en vista de su tamaño y que ya había visto esa especie anteriormente. Les hablo de la Junonia genoveva. Espera, no me sé ese nombre porque me lo hayan enseñado en la escuela. Fue porque usé el Google Lens y fue los resultados que me arrojó. Suena muy lógico. Esa especie abunda mucho por este lugar. Son mariposas generalmente muy activas y rápidas. A veces las veo solas o en pares.

Pero ésta vez fui privilegiado. La vi a cierta distancia y detuve mi caminar. Saqué la cámara y esperé a que ella se detuviera. ¡Y lo hizo! Entonces me moví levemente para poder lograr capturarla de la mejor forma y empecé a disparar. Pareciera que supiera que la fotografiaría, porque empezó a girar sobre la misma flor a la vez que movía sus alas de arriba a abajo. Eso me permitió contemplarla de diferentes ángulos fue muy bonito.

Unos segundos después voló a otra planta cerca, y allí estuvo más quieta, lo cual hizo que lograr tomarle foto de un ángulo que permitía admirar el diseño de sus alas, con esos grandes lunares y bonitos contraste. Estoy satisfecho por las fotos de esa tarde.

Tenía una distancia focal de 300 mm y un ISO de apenas 200. El sujeto era muy pequeño. Por todo ésto, necesitaba tener una estabilidad sobresaliente para que las fotos salieran bien. Por eso, para ayudarme, usé una velocidad de 1/320s y un apertura de f/9 y asi logré una iluminación y nitidez aceptable.

Cada vez que repaso éste tipo de fotos recuerdo la importancia de esos ratos, tanto por sus beneficios físicos como emocionales. Recordé que ya han pasado algunas semanas desde la última vez que lo hice. Así que debo retomar éstas actividades pronto. Seguro volveré por aquí para mostrarles los resultados.
