Los 5 minutos de fama del bucare || Bucare's 5 minutes of fame

En los países tropicales no tenemos el privilegio de tener las cuatro estaciones en el año con sus contrastantes cambios en un mismo escenario. No obstante, eso no quiere decir que tengamos algunos cambios en nuestros paisajes. El árbol llamado Bucare es uno de los encargados de engalanar estos meses.

Es un árbol grande, pero que suele crear con el tiempo vacíos dentro de su madera, originando que se llene de agua y sus ramas revienten por el peso. En zonas cafeteras es usado para usarla como sombra para el cafeto. Y una vez al año brota de ellos una flor naranja que parece encenderse a medida que alcanza su esplendor pleno.

En el resto del año puede que haya pasado desapercibido entre los demás árboles, camuflajeado con esas "barbas" que le cuelgan. Pero ahora es imposible pasar desapercibidos. Incluso, al ir cayendo las flores naranjas a medida que pasan los días, el suelo a su alrededor también se va pintando de éste color, de modo que está rodeado por arriba y por abajo de belleza plena.

Cuando era niño, mis compañeros decían que esa flor tenía una especie de néctar dulce que lograbas extraer si succionabas en su punta. Yo nunca pude lograrlo. Así que no sé si sólo estaban jugándome una broma, aunque hasta el día de hoy muchos adultos aseguran que sí es así, pero no he visto a alguno hacerlo recientemente.

Me gusta tomarle fotos a éstos árboles. Contrastan muy bien con el resto de la vegetación, pero me gustan más cuando se pueden ver con un cielo azul mayormente despejado, donde ese naranja brilla aún más.

Muchas personas admiran y tratan de copiar su belleza. Por ejemplo, los artistas lo incluyen en los cuadros y mosaicos que crean. ¡Incluso mi madre quiso vestirse de naranja y se tomó fotos junto a una alfombra de flores de bucare en el suelo y lo puso como su fondo de pantalla en el celular!

Éstas son las semanas de admirar a los bucares. Son sus "cinco minutos de fama". Y como nos encanta tomarle fotos a los famosos, éste es un post para ellos.

In tropical countries, we do not have the privilege of experiencing the four seasons in the year with their contrasting changes in the same setting. However, that does not mean we don't have some changes in our landscapes. The tree called Bucare is one of those responsible for embellishing these months.

It is a large tree, but over time it tends to develop voids within its wood, causing it to fill with water and its branches to burst under the weight. In coffee-growing areas, it is used for shade for the coffee plants. And once a year, an orange flower blooms from them, seeming to light up as it reaches its full splendor.

Throughout the rest of the year, it may have gone unnoticed among the other trees, camouflaged by those "beards" hanging from it. But now, it is impossible to go unnoticed. Even as the orange flowers fall day by day, the ground around it also becomes painted in this color, so it is surrounded above and below by full beauty.

When I was a child, my classmates said that this flower had a kind of sweet nectar that you could extract by sucking on its tip. I was never able to achieve it. So, I don't know if they were just playing a joke on me, although to this day, many adults claim it is true, but I haven't seen anyone do it recently.

I like taking photos of these trees. They contrast very well with the rest of the vegetation, but I prefer them when they can be seen against a mostly clear blue sky, where that orange shines even more.

Many people admire and try to replicate their beauty. For example, artists include them in the paintings and mosaics they create. Even my mother wanted to dress in orange and took photos next to a carpet of Bucare flowers on the ground and set it as her cellphone wallpaper!

These are the weeks to admire the Bucare trees. These are their "five minutes of fame". And since we love taking photos of famous people, this is a post for them.
