#KISS: $140 well earned!
#KISS: $140 well earned!
Can there be peace where there is disorder? I have my categorical answer. But in this week's #kiss we are invited to use our imagination, self-knowledge and recognition of our own limits. $20 for every day in a house where clutter reigns. "Waiter, bring me another one".
First of all, I must say that, after thinking about it for a while, I would accept to live in such a place, and resist the idea of taking justice into my own hands and leaving everything as it is, even if it has no head or tail.
Why would I do that? I think for two reasons. The first is as a personal challenge, and to keep measuring what I can and cannot do, what I tolerate too much and what I tolerate too little. And the second is for the money. It seems fair to me that they give me $20 a day to be there. Nor would I expect that a challenge like this would solve my life and give me the monkey equivalent to the lottery jackpot. But will there be cameras to watch me and make sure I'm in there? Wait a minute! If so, I think we do have to raise the amount.
I think I could accept something like that because I have spent several days in homes that are not only a bit messy, but also poorly laid out, full of junk, lacking in utilities and somewhat dysfunctional. Living there is challenging, and perhaps not suitable for many.
For example, you have to sleep in a space that was barely cleared to put the padded surface where you will sleep, because sometimes it is not even a mattress. You have a combing machine next to you, but you can barely have a space for your things, because it is full of empty jars, useless ornaments and surfaces in bad condition. An air conditioner or fan that lacks the front parts and makes a big enough noise that you can't hear us laughing about it lying in bed.
Do you know how hard it is to carry water in buckets to carry it to the bathroom, while walking on paths inside the house because it's full of objects and furnishings? It's super complicated! You can't get anything wet that might be in the trash but for some reason they keep it. And when you ask why you have to carry water, they explain that it's just a minor repair. Although sometimes they have not taken care of it for economic reasons, other times it is a product of disorder and lack of interest, and what that promotes is more disorder. And a separate chapter deserves those people who do not throw anything away. God! Why do they do that? But the answers are usually the same: "I can use that later. "I'm going to repair it. "Leave it as a spare. " I have a truckload of those stories.
How long could it hold there?
I left the answer in the title: a week. I've been that long in places like the ones I've described. And by the end of the second day I sometimes feel the need to sit down and talk to the homeowners about what to do for the rest of the stay. But a couple of days later I'm calmer and can take it all in better, so it will be $140 well earned! And honestly. Mind you, I don't rule out the millennial tactic of playing crazy, sitting around the house to burn time, fiddling with the phone with good games and movies (by the way, would there be WiFi in that house?) and of course, sleep, sleep and sleep.
In conclusion, living in environments where clutter reigns is a challenge to self-control, patience, tolerance, resilience and kindness. Is it worth it for as little as $20 a day? Maybe not for some. And if you're one of those, I hope that if you accept anyway, some of that money will be enough to pay for anxiolytics.
See you next time.

😂 $20/day in a clutter house that probably looks like above isn't that bad. Unless it's literal dumpster then it's horrible.
Almost a dollar an hour, right? That's where the detail is, because depending on the degree of disorder (and even pollution) we will see if it is a bargain or a danger to our peace. Seems like it could be a good subject for a reality show.... 😂 Greetings @macchiata
Thank you for your support @minimalistliving
I kept thinking it was $20 Australian dollars, but $20 American USD might be better. Yeah, I'd have to wear blinkers and sleep or look at the telly all day so I didn't focus on the clutter and compusively clean! Good strategy!
I also thought it would help not to be alone. Maybe if my wife was also there for the same amount of time it would help me a lot. And also, she would earn the same amount of money. My question is, would she put up with the same amount of time as me in there?😄 Regards @riverflows
