The A-maze-ing Laughter sculpture in Vancouver BC

The "A-maze-ing Laughter" sculpture, a captivating creation by Yue Minjun, graces Morton Park at the corner of Davie and Denman Streets near English Bay in the West End of Vancouver.

Unveiled in 2009, this striking assembly features 14 larger-than-life bronze figures, each standing around three meters tall and tipping the scales at over 250 kilograms.

In a generous act of philanthropy, Chip and Shannon Wilson, through their Wilson5 Foundation, presented "A-maze-ing Laughter" to the City of Vancouver on August 11, 2012, ensuring that this piece of joy would remain a permanent fixture for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.

Remarkably, each statue captures the artist's likeness, all sharing an expression of unbridled, hysterical laughter. This unique artwork was brought to life for the Vancouver International Sculpture Biennale, an event dedicated to showcasing contemporary sculptures from around the globe in accessible public spaces.

Adding to the sculpture's inviting ambiance, an inscription on nearby cement seating offers a heartwarming invitation: "May this sculpture inspire laughter, playfulness, and joy in all who experience it."
