Sudsy Sunday Stormwater

Somebody allowed chemicals into the stormwater and here it has created visible suds.
This stormwater drain discharges directly into the river. Many of the street drains have a little fish symbol on them to remind people that the drain goes directly into natural water courses. We’re meant to be careful about washing chemicals to avoid poisoning the wildlife and their habitats. There’s a lot of invertebrates that are quite sensitive to such pollution. We’re advised to wash cars over grass so the wash chemicals will soak into the earth and be broken down before reaching a waterway.
However, this looks industrial. I posted this drone pic on our local Facebook page and other residents added more information. The local council is now investigating.
Oh, and the water level is very low: That sand bar to the left is usually not visible. Most likely the river authority is expecting more rain.

So how will they manage to take the chemicals outside the water or will it be in there forever?

The chemicals will dilute out and then break down in nature. But there's a limit to how much and how fast nature can work, and some animals are quite sensitive. Today, the culvert was clear of suds.

I'm all for organic, biodegradable, and chemical-free detergents! 😄

Sometimes I stay at AirBnBs that are rural and they have to use special detergents and soaps because their wastewater is into a septic tank.

It is a fact that such chemicals should not be put into the water. Man does it for his own benefit, but it causes a lot of harm and the animals that live there are very much harmed. Damage occurs.

Most likely this was somebody washing something like a building, a fleet of vehicles or a driveway. But, they should be more careful.

Thank you @eturnerx, for discovering this dangerous damage, whoever that had made such mistake, the local council need to hurriedly find out the individual and warn him or her then look for solutions to the damage being caused. For the water to regain it's clean nature.

I just posted it on my community pages to remind people to be a little more careful. The council might be able to find who did this.... fun story: the person who owned my house before me said he often saw suds like this and reported them. It took some time, and eventually, it turned out to be the council's own bus terminal washing the buses. They had to change some processes to prevent it from happening again.
