I heard that many famous shops sell their products for a limited time and in limited quantities because good things are in high demand. This phenomenon has a term called "hunger marketing". I'm not sure if it's a positive or negative term because many shops intentionally create an illusion of scarcity to generate buzz and increase sales. But are the products really that good? Only time will tell.

Li Long Bakery is an old establishment. I heard it used to be located on Zhonghua Road before moving to Dongmen Market over 30 years ago. Even though it's not a century-old shop, it has a history of over 40 years. Their main products include scallion pancakes, beef pies, pork pies, red bean pies, and radish cake shreds. The bakery isn't easy to find; it's hidden away in the depths of Dongmen Market. When I crave their snacks, I usually go around 11 in the morning to avoid the long queues. Despite its modest appearance, I rarely see a sign as weathered as theirs. But regardless, it's a place where people line up, and it has its loyal customers who have been enjoying their pies for years.

What stands out about their pies is the thin, crispy crust and juicy fillings. With both meat and vegetables inside, they offer a refreshing taste. Plus, the prices are reasonable. When I last visited, each pie was 25 NT dollars. A few years ago, they were only 20 NT dollars each. Though the price has gone up by five, it's still a great deal compared to other shops selling pies for 40 dollars each. Because of these factors, they can sell thousands of pies a day, usually selling out by noon.

I decided to buy their pies on a whim one day, so I arrived around 12 noon. Unfortunately, they had sold out of the beef pies by then. Behind the counter, the staff were busy rolling dough, filling, and frying the pies. There was a queue behind me, and the woman ahead of me wiped out 20 pies in one go, so I had to wait an extra 10 minutes. They also had customers who had pre-ordered by phone. Thankfully, I managed to get my hands on some pies in the end. I've tried food from many famous places that require queuing, and each has its own reasons. But if possible, I'd still prefer to avoid the queues and shop elsewhere. Just a little insight from my experience.
