urban nature in all its glory

Viewing the aurora from the window of my city apartment in Portland was never something I expected to do in my lifetime.

Light pollution from the city distorted the brilliance, and I was forced to appreciate the full splendor of the lights via #screenlife, editing for exposure and color saturation.

While I wasn't able to see the vivid colors, I was nevertheless enraptured as I watched the pale green light dance and play across the sky.

Pilot and I are going camping tonight in the hopes of seeing them in all their glory, without light pollution.

Wish us luck.

Done! I've still never been in two places at the same time, though. Can't guarantee it'll work.

Good luck! Just got back from hiking up to the best overlook in town but didn't see a damn thing in 3+ hours.

You shoulda waited three more minutes and turned around. It was right behind you.

There was a moment post sunset when it was glorious, but by the time it got dark the lights had moved on... ☹️ was still nice to surprise myself with a little getaway, though.

A surprise outing is always nice, I pretty much keep my camping gear in the car just to make it a little easier.

Ooooo me too. Spring rolls around and the bed goes into the car and stays there until forever.

I paid good money to go on a cruise to see the lights. Now they're everywhere! It's wonderful.

I still want to experience them on a crisp, frigid night in the north, regardless!

I'm much too close to the equator to see the southern version of that, apparently the Aurora Australis is mainly red because of oxygen molecules or something. I'm loving everyone's pictures

Ooooo red sounds nice, too!

Apparently there were some spots in Florida where people could see the auroras, too, so perhaps one day you will get your chance!

Were you able to see the splendour of the aurora?
Pilot is still Pilot? 🤔

Pilot is even more Pilot than he was before we went!

We only had a moment of auroras after sunset, then they went north again.

They are very busy auroras.

You can see that they have a lot to do and a lot to take hold of everywhere.

I would need one to be more me.

I think sometimes Pilot makes me more me when I really need it.
